Details Medieval clothing encouraged, if you have it. If not, contact the seneschal to arrange for a loaner outfit.

Schedule is relaxed: some craft instruction, some hanging out, some music, some food, some dancing, in no particular order.

Del's dance book, available from the SCA Ren Dance homepage - free to dowload/distribute.

These are *modern transcriptions* of period pieces, aimed at SCA audiences and players; all the usual cautions about risks of interpretation apply.

Music page in Del's dance book

The other source I'm consulting is Gaita's handbooks for dancers that accompanies their CDs.

Please bring:

  • nibbles and drinks to share: we have access to a kitchen w/ microwave and kettle, but no stovetop or oven
  • whatever medieval or medieval-ish table setting you can assemble - start with a plate and glass or cup for beverages; add knife, spoon, plain tablecloth, candlesticks and candle if possible!
  • your current handwork project: sewing, embroidery, carving, whatever you're doing that's portable
  • any sheet music for singing or playing - we'd like to run through our shared repetoire
  • any medieval board or card games you want to teach or play
Cost

£5 per person towards the hall rental. If we book for an all-day session (eg. for rapier training), requested fee is £10 from participants

First visit for newcomers to the Society is free of charge.

Transport

The hall is around the corner from Archway station (Northern line) and from Upper Holloway overground station.

Street parking available (single yellow line in residential area), and 2-hour parking limits on Sat mornings.

The local parking wardens pounce on anyone parked in the wrong area, or exceeding their time limit.

Please check the signs and don't get caught out! Some guests have already been hit with £40 tickets. :-(
