Additional Transportation Details |
For travellers flying to Crown...many roads lead through Stansted airport. After some research, supplemented by good advice from Fru Johanna aff Hukka (kingdom travel advisor), it appears that if you're coming from a London airport, the most direct path to a train station close to the site is on a coach. Train routes are either comperable prices, or cheaper, but involve more changes, and also mean you're travelling through London on Friday afternoon and evening, which is very busy. The event staff can arrange local pickups from Hockley and Rayleigh stations to the site if you send your travel details to the event steward. Unannounced travellers take their chances! From Stansted - easy connection If you haven't arranged a pickup w/ the event steward, try hailing a cab directly to the site. Look around the station for a taxi stand, or ask the staff for a local minicab number. Heathrow - moderate connection For Heathrow travellers on a budget (who have more time), you can take
the Tube from Heathrow to Liverpool Street station (Zone 1-6 ticket, about
£4.50). Tube route: Luton - moderate-to-fiddly connection (by train) For Luton travellers on a budget: trains run from Luton to either London
St. Pancras or Farringdon stations. These are joint Tube/Train stations,
from which you would take the Circle (yellow)
or Metropolitain (purple/brown) tube
up to four stops to Liverpool Street. A zone 1 single ticket is about
£2. From Liverpool Street, catch train to Hockley station. An adult ticket is £16.00. Useful links: Buses
from Heathrow (and Luton) to Stansted, on National Express site: Stansted
