Spring Crown Tournament, AS 43 (2009) | |
|
The Shire of Thamesreach hereby invites you all to a great tourney, to determine the heirs to the Crown of Drachenwald. |
||
Date |
The shire of Thamesreach is pleased to host Spring Crown Tourney Friday 27 March to Sunday 29 March 2009 - note early date! |
|
Site |
Site The centre has beds for up to 90 guests - a mix of small rooms (2-5 people) and one large bunkroom of 24 beds. The site has good accessibility: main buildings are fully accessible, separated by up 50m of unpaved gravel track or pathway. Site opens 6pm Friday evening, closes 12noon or 1pm Sunday afternoon. The site is discreetly wet. Smoking in designated areas only. Lyndhurst is in the middle of the ancient and historic New Forest (it was 'new' for William the Conqueror, anyway!). It's about 10 miles west of Southampton, and 80 miles SW of London. This site was last used at the Autumn Crown Tournament of John and Honor, in autumn of AS 39 (2004) - the tournament won by TE Padraig and Elsa. Since then, the Guides have built an additional hall for residences and have made further renovations to improve it. |

Transport |
Some of these directions are taken from the Girl Guide website. From London Waterloo to Brockenhurst: journey approx 1hr 40 mins. Consult National Rail Journey Planner for fares and times. The trains run until around 11pm (some times later) depending on the route. In England, you can book train tickets up to 3 months in advance. Booking earlier is much cheaper and guarantees you a seat, but requires that you commit to a fixed route and departure time. The tickets you buy at the station are more expensive, but are more flexible with scheduling. To get from Brockenhurst to Foxlease, call a local taxi, or arrange pickup. Local bus service is infrequent. By air: Southampton Airport, 10 miles away (mostly internal flights only). From Southampton, pick up the train to Brockenhurst, approx 30 mins. Bristol Airport, 80 miles Gatwick Airport, 90 miles From Gatwick, take the train to Clapham Junction and change trains for Brockenhurst. Heathrow Airport, 80 miles From Heathrow take the Railair coach to Woking train station, then take train to Brockenhurst. We will try to arrange pickups from Brockenhurst station and the town of Lyndhust, but these will depend on volunteer drivers, and will require a small fee. Contact the reservations steward to make a request. |
